  1. Ted Williams was born on August 30, 1918 in San Diego, California.
  2. He played his entire career with the Boston Red Sox and is considered one of the greatest hitters in baseball history.
  3. Williams was a 19-time All-Star, a two-time American League MVP and won six batting titles during his career.
  4. Despite missing three seasons of his prime to serve in World War II and the Korean War, Williams still managed to hit 521 home runs and finish with a career batting average of .344.
  5. He is the last player to hit over .400 in a single season, accomplishing the feat in 1941 with a batting average of .406.
  6. Williams was known for his incredible eyesight, reportedly having 20/10 vision which allowed him to see the ball better than most players.
  7. He was also an accomplished fisherman and even hosted his own television show called “The American Sportsman” after retiring from baseball.
