Orel Hershiser is a former professional baseball player and current broadcaster who spent most of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was known for his impressive pitching skills and his tenacious work ethic on the mound. Here are some fun facts about this legendary pitcher:

• Hershiser was born in 1958 in Buffalo, New York. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1979 and made his major league debut in 1983.
• As a pitcher, Hershiser was known for his incredible durability and consistency. He holds several records including the MLB record for consecutive scoreless innings pitched (59) and the National League record for most consecutive starts without a loss (24).
• In addition to his success on the field, Hershiser also had a reputation for being a fierce competitor and hard worker. His intense focus and dedication to his craft earned him the nickname “The Bulldog.”
• During his career, Hershiser won numerous awards including three Gold Glove awards, one Cy Young award, and one World Series MVP award.
• After retiring from playing in 2000, Hershiser began working as a broadcaster for several networks including ESPN and the Dodgers’ own SportsNet LA.
• In addition to his broadcasting work, Hershiser is also known for his philanthropic efforts. He has been involved with several charities throughout his career including Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
