  3. Baylor joined the Yankees in 1983 as a designated hitter and outfielder.
  4. In his first season with the team, he helped lead them to the American League pennant and a World Series championship over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
  5. Baylor was known for his ability to hit home runs and drive in runs, earning him the nickname “Groove”.
  6. He retired in 1988 with over 1,600 hits and nearly 400 home runs.
  7. After his playing career ended, Baylor went on to become a coach and manager in Major League Baseball before passing away in 2017 at the age of 68.
